De Duif
Until the mid-Nineteenth Century public Catholic services
were forbidden. Behind the façade of the present
church, De Duif in the Kerkstraat, the Schuilkerk (a
secret Catholic church) was hidden. In 1853, a true
parish was built upon this spot.
Nowadays, church services are still held on Sunday
mornings. During the rest of the week, the impeccable
De Duif - which in 2000 completed twenty-five years
of restoration – is open for all your reception
needs.
The white stucco interior was recently found to conceal
a series of impressive frescos. The building’s
acoustics make it the perfect location for successful
concerts, but also for symposia, readings, lectures
and dinners.
